SRI LANKA BECOMING THE WONDER OF ASIA


The government has planned to transform Sri Lanka into a strategically important economic center by developing five strategic hubs ;
1.      A knowledge hub.
2.      A commercial hub.
3.      A naval & maritime hub.
4.      An aviation hub.

5.      An energy hub.






The “MAHINDA CHINTHANAYA”. It is vision for the future envisages the transformation of Sri Lanka into an Economic Hub in South Asia and doubling of Per Capita income to US$ 4,000 by 2016. An economic hub in South Asia, it gives huge investments to Sri Lanka, creating new jobs, developing other important facilities, it may help to Sri Lanka for their GDP growth, reducing unemployment rate, inflation rate and double their Per Capita Income also. 


Sri Lanka is to be;

01. An aviation hub




      Second international airport in Mattala, Moderation of Bandaranayake International Airport( BIA ) and building second runway at the BIA, Development and upgrading of domestic airports, Position Colombo as a regional logistic and service hub and as a hub for budget airlines.



02. An energy hub

      Develop renewable energy sources, New oil refinery at Hambanthota, Oil exploration and production-3 sea basins (offshore) have been identified ( Mannar, Cauvery, Southern Waters), Develop oil trade-related an ciliary services including gas.







03. A maritime hub

     Colombo Port- container mega hub, Hambanthota Port- free port service; industrial and multi purpose, Gall Port- cruise shipping centre, Trincomalee- port related industries, Oluvil Port- commercial & fisheries, Kankasanthurei and Point Pedro- regional ports.



04. A knowledge hub

     Target IT literacy & internet access for all, Creation of knowledge-based jobs, Commence degree programs directly targeting foreign students, Accredited foreign universities to set up university colleges in Sri Lanka.







NSBM - 1st Green University in South Asia.


05. A commercial hub


    Establish Sri Lanka as the foremost centre in the region in the provision of commercial services, international banking & international investments, With growth of Ports and tourism, Sri Lanka’s commercial sector will develop.
